VIETNAM PORT

History

Interflour Vietnam Ltd is co-owned through a 80/20 joint venture with the Sojitz Corporation of Vietnam.

The company operates the first privately-owned grain terminal and storage infrastructure in Vietnam, located in the south of the country on the Thi Vai River, 100 km south-east of Ho Chi Minh City. Interflour Vietnam began production in May 2003 with an initial milling capacity of 500MT of wheat per day, or an annual production capacity of 130,000 tons of wheat flour. Its facilities include wheat silos, finished product warehouse and a dedicated deep draft port, with wheat unloading facilities capable of discharging about 10,000MT per day.

Flour operations are now in their second full year and Interflour has established itself as the price and quality leader in Vietnam. The company supplies flour to instant noodle market leader Ace Cook, leading Ho Chi Minh City bakery HCM, and one of the leading baguette flour brands.

A significant expansion of the terminal, currently underway, will make Interflour’s operation the most advanced grain and grain products terminal in the country. The expansion consists of lengthening and strengthening the current jetty to enable it to take up to two Panamax-size vessels at any one time. Additional storage is also being constructed to include facilities for soyabean meal, wheat and corn.

Given the rapid expansion of the Vietnamese economy, the mill is expected to enjoy significant growth over the next few years. Through the port and terminal upgrade, Interflour is gearing up to handle and store 2 million of tons of grain annually.
