CREATING NEW VALUE
Asia Research & Development Centre
Interflour’s R&D Centre at University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Selangor, Malaysia undertakes research on grains and flour-based products. This specialist unit adds value to Interflour’s service offering by helping develop new products and processes for our mills and customers, providing training for technical staff and sales team, collaborating with customers in new product development, and undertaking scientific research work on new functional ingredients.
Examples of the value-add made possible by the R&D centre are the development of a dry form of Panatura®, the development of Thang Long flour, which has superior volume and other benefits, and the Flour Fortification Initiative (FFI), a UNICEF-supported initiative, involving the fortification of flour with vitamins and minerals to improve public health. In playing its part as a good corporate citizen, Interflour fortifies flour produced in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam through processes devised at its R&D centre.
